An incredible and rare ruby flash glass transom from a late 1800s Victorian home. Ruby flash glass was made by applying a copper sulfide solution and kiln firing the glass to achieve a stunning, deep red coating on the glass while the glass underneath the chemical coating remains clear. The decoration on this window was cut into the glass revealing the clear glass under the red coating leaving a low relief pattern on the glass with small details that can be seen in person such as veins in the leaves. This is a stunning piece in both color and design and can be hung vertically or horizontally making it versatile for many different applications. The frame is in very good condition and does still have original hardware (hinges) that can be left or removed if desired.
This antique ruby glass transom measures 40 1/8" wide by 16 5/8" tall by 1 3/4" thick at the frame. This piece ships free within the continental US and will be crated for safety. It can also be picked up locally from our warehouse for a discounted price.
