A charming Victorian era newel post with the original finish and beautiful turned finial on top. Although there are imperfections as pictured, this piece is sturdy and would be an excellent period appropriate addition to any Victorian restoration or a charming feature in a new-build. There are scuffs and marks in the surface of this piece that is consistent with age. The shellac is alligatored as shown and there are some splits in the wood around the base of the finial.
This antique newel post measures approx. 51 1/2" tall by 4 3/8" square. Please see all of our pictures for details and condition of this item. The bottom has a cut out section which was originally fit into a stair tread.
